has always been said that Cuban culture is one, whether inside or outside the island. There are certainly valuable writers both sides, although some of them, as is the case of Fina García Marruz , have been shown for a regime that has divided the Cuban people as never did any other previous government. The poetry of García Marruz, to be their true cultural heritage for posterity, has just been awarded the Queen Sofia Prize for Latin American Poetry (with a total of about 42,000 euros). For its part, the storyteller and journalist Luis de la Paz, resident of Miami, and belonging to the Mariel generation, has been awarded the Lydia Cabrera Award for his work as a cultural journalist, a task sick difficult in exile, because it is a field that has not backed by any government or institution, a perk of which the writers do enjoy living on the island.
